If I could pick which new stores would open in the Des Moines area, CB2 would be at the top of the list. The younger sibling of Crate and Barrel, CB2 consistently delivers fresh designs that work well in a variety of interiors from new traditional to transitional and mid-century to contemporary.
Their latest collection is all about the metallics. Copper, brass and chrome all feature prominently. The sculptural legs of the Dahlia Desk make it the perfect piece to show off behind a sofa instead of tucking it away in an office.
The Avec Sofa is classic mid-century with just a little glam in the form of brass legs. It comes in a variety of colors. This hot pink seems a little shocking for a sofa, but it can work like a neutral by providing a backdrop for an eclectic mix of pillows. The same is true for the indigo blue and deep green.
The Dial Dining Table also feels very mid-century with its hairpin inspired legs and wood/brass combination. It would work well in a small dining room or in a dining nook with a banquette.
Versions of the Victor Mirror are all over the place, and at $179, it’s a great price point (The DWR version is almost $1000). I love the idea of using it in a powder room over a free-standing vanity.

What do you think of the metallic trend? Brass has been a strong contender for the last view years, and copper is just starting gain ground. I’m personally very happy that there are so many great options out there because mixing metals can help a room feel more designed and collected rather than matchy-matchy.
