Cooking…
Homemade Pizza. I know it’s not Primal Blueprint or even gluten free, but really, what is life without pizza? The second pie we made flattened like a dream for a thin crispy crust. We topped it with a deliciously rich gouda from TJ’s made with the first milk of each season, a little Italian cheese blend, homemade sauce, mushrooms, and thin sliced salami. My secret is to drizzle olive oil over the crust and then salt and pepper the entire pie before baking.

I just started The House at Riverton by Kate Morton yesterday, and I am already deep into it. It’s historical fiction with flashbacks from the present, my favorite genre, and set in England starting pre WWI. Double bonus. I already know I’m going to buy The Forgotten Garden when I’m finished with this one, which will be by the end of the week-end at the rate I’m going.

Song Up In Her Head by Sarah Jaroz, discovered by Keegan. She really is incredible.
Making…
Necklaces with wire wrapped vintage glass beads featuring some of my own photographs set in handmade copper bezels and sealed with resin. I’m still working out the kinks in the bezels, but I hope I’ll have some photos to share tomorrow.
Watching…
The Next Food Network Star. I don’t have a favorite yet…maybe Chris because he’s such a doofus. I just wish all of these shows weren’t so focused on rushing for time. In real life, whether it’s designing a room or preparing a delicious meal, nothing (well done) is ever conceived and completed within a half hour. I think it would be interesting to see who would win these competitions if the real life skills of thoughtful preparation and planning ahead were given more play instead of…Oh My God, what do I do if the store only has one of my ingredients and I only have seven minutes to shop?!
Also, I know it’s terrible, but in the spirit of being honest, I have to admit that I watch The Bachelorette. I remember the very first time I saw the show…in the locker room of my gym in California during the inaugural season nine years ago, I think. Every woman in the room was just staring at the tv, dumbfounded and open-mouthed at the craziness of it. I’ve watched most of the seasons ever since, but this current one is particularly morally questionable (on the part of the producers) and borderline nauseating. Do you watch any crappy television like this? Tell me I’m not the only one.
